More people are concerned with why women stay in abusive relationships than why men are abusing women.

"Opinion is really the lowest form of human knowledge. It requires no accountability, no understanding. The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another’s world. It requires profound purpose larger than the self kind of understanding."

Kakršna sem pač sem. Tako sem narejena, to sem pač jaz. Kadar mi gre na smeh, smejem se na ves glas.
Ljubim tistega, ki me ljubi. Mar je to moja stvar, če res ni zmerom isti ta, ki me vzame za par.
Kakršna sem pač sem. Taka sem, to sem pač jaz.

There’s actually no such thing as an adult. That word is a placeholder. We never grow up.

We’re not supposed to. We’re born and that’s it. We get bigger. We live through great storms.

We get soaked to the bone. We realize we’re waterproof. We strive for calm. We discover

what makes us feel good. We do those things over and over. We learn what doesn’t feel good.

We avoid those things at all cost. Sometimes we come together: huge groups in agreement.

Sometimes we clap and dance. Sometimes we look like a migration of birds. We need to remind

ourselves—each other—that we’re mere breaths. But, and this is important, sometimes we can

be magnificent, to one person, even for a short time, like the perfect touch—the first time you

see the ocean from the middle. Like every time you see the low, full moon. We keep on eating:

chewing, pretending we know what’s going on. The secret is that we don’t. We don’t, and don’t, and don’t.

Each day we’re infants: plucking flower petals, full of wonder.

Letting go gives us freedom, and freedom is the only condition for

happiness. If, in our heart, we still cling to anything—anger, guilt, or

possessions—we cannot be free.

“There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time.

I’m 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55.”

"Life happens" or to be more realistically rash, "shit happens". You learn from bullshit. Plain and simple. Would you have learned anything to its fullest extent if you weren't presented with the actual problem? The problem is what gets you going. It's what puts you in action for traction. It gives you the necessary elements in order for you to respond responsibly. You may solve your issues by lashing back aggressively and pridefully, but then you learn that it wasn't as effective as you initially thought. So you continue and you refine your approach, you experiment with other solutions. You learn within the learning experience. Then some of you might say, "You can learn from others". And it's true - to an extent. What's missing in the equation is the actual experience that comes with the learning. You cannot listen to a story or someone's advice and respond the same way without going through the human experience. Receiving advice are shortcuts, sometimes they "add vice" to the situation at hand - which are also uniquely yours. You have to go through the emotional roller coaster, the deep hurt, the deliriousness, the resentment, the "it's not fair" attitude, internalizing the hate and all the rest of it. The emotional charges play a significant role in the processing of your learning experience. And by living through it bears a much more telling evolutionary experience. Then your "shit happens" becomes "shift happens".

Warsan Shire sem odkrila sele pred kratkim, ampak se me je nekaj verzov/pesmi tako dotaknilo, da si jih veckrat preberem.

“later that night
i held an atlas in my lap
ran my fingers across the whole world
and whispered
where does it hurt?

it answered
everywhere
everywhere
everywhere.”

― Warsan Shire

“two people who were once very close can
without blame
or grand betrayal
become strangers.
perhaps this is the saddest thing in the world.”
― Warsan Shire

“You tried to change didn’t you?
closed your mouth more
tried to be softer
prettier
less volatile, less awake
but even when sleeping you could feel
him travelling away from you in his dreams
so what did you want to do, love
split his head open?
you can’t make homes out of human beings
someone should have already told you that
and if he wants to leave
then let him leave
you are terrifying
and strange and beautiful
something not everyone knows how to love.”
― Warsan Shire

By the time I’ve finished with you,

you won’t know whether you’ve been kissed or cut,

whether you were loved or butchered.
and either way you probably won’t care,
just grateful you came close enough to touch.
”
― Warsan Shire

“With you, intimacy colours my voice.

even ‘hello’ sounds like ‘come here'.”
― Warsan Shire

“all those nights with the phone warming the side of my face like the sun.”
― Warsan Shire

“At the end of the day, it isn’t where I came from. Maybe home is somewhere I’m going and never have been before.”
― Warsan Shire

"Conformity may give you a quiet life; it may even bring you to a University Chair. But all change in history, all advance, comes from the nonconformists. If there had been no trouble-makers, no dissenters, we should still be living in caves." -A.J.P. Taylor
