Avtorja je pri pisanju scenarija navdihnil kultni roman Izplamtevanje, ki ga je leta 1931 izdal francoski pisatelj Pierre Drieu la Rochelle. Leta 1963 je po njem nastal film Ogenj norosti (Le feu follet) v režiji Louisa Malla. Roman je pri založbi Mladinska knjiga leta 2004 izšel tudi v slovenščini.
