Ja, to zdaj kroži po FB skupinah. Groza.

Jo loviti in ujeti.

Jajca so izredno skoncentriran vir vitaminov, mineralov, antioksidantov, esencialnih maščob in beljakovin. Torej so zdrava.
Poleg tega poznamo dobri (HDL) in slabi (LDL) holesterol.

In še komentar:
I have always respected Dr. David Katz's opinions as they tend to be very balanced and objective. This is a great piece he writes on cholesterol.
Dr. Katz has supported egg consumption in past, and freely admits that he accepted money from the egg industry to do the studie but describes how that could not have biased the results based on his experimental design. The problem is that the studies supporting eggs give people who already eat a high fat diet 2 eggs daily and see no difference. Now give someone eating a clean diet some eggs and their cholesterol will spike considerably. To me this says that there is a threshold effect. If you are over a certain cholesterol more may not make your already bad diet that much worse. Also, most of the studies are not looking at the important end organ disease results. Egg consumption in diabetics has been clearly related to with early mortality from cardiac events. Furthermore, studies comparing vegans to egg eating vegetarians show vegans have less weight, diabetes, and heart disease.
William Castelli, the famous lead researcher of the Framingham Research, stated that possibly we should be lowering the cholesterol numbers we call normal. He noted that they never saw a heart attack in anybody with cholesterol level less than 150.
What I love about Katz in this review is he puts his research in perfect perspective. He notes that it is not about whether eggs are good or bad but rather his studies show what position eggs should play on our plate. As he says, if you are substituting simple sugar cereals for eggs then that is a mistake and the eggs are better for you. BUT if you are eating steal cut oatmeal with berries, changing to eggs is a bad idea. [dr. Garth Davis]

Cholesterol - recommendations and optimal levels
Atherosclerosis is endemic in our population in part because the average person’s LDL level is up around 130, approximately twice the normal physiologic level. The reason the federal government doesn’t recommend everyone doesn’t shoot for even just under 100, is that despite the lower risk accompanying more optimal cholesterol levels, the intensity of clinical intervention required to achieve such levels for everyone in the population would financially overload the health care system. Drug usage would rise enormously. But they’re just assuming drugs are the only way to get our LDL that low, but those eating really plant based diets may hit the optimal cholesterol target without even trying. Just naturally nailing under 70.
The reason given by the federal government for not advocating for what the science shows is best was that it might frustrate the public, who would have difficulty maintaining a lower level, but maybe the public’s greatest frustration would come from not being informed of the optimal diet for health.
